What's Included again?
Development & Support
The week long induction includes observations and co-planning sessions to help graduates to put their new TEFL knowledge into practice and feel confident in their first day at school.
On-going teacher support is available during your placement and may include teaching observations (both by Academic Management and Peer observations), workshops, group planning and private study tasks.
Teachers are fully supported by the experienced, professional and dedicated Academic Management Teams within all of the schools.
Housing Allowance Explained
Housing in Vietnam varies between location and depending on if you are choosing to live alone or with others. You can expect to pay between £300-400 per month for a nice place of your own and a little bit less than that if you are living with others. We always recommend to live with others, it is a great way to make friends and fast tracks your knowledge of the best places to eat out or things to do in your area! You'd need to take initial rent and deposit for your first 2 months.
You will receive a housing allowance in the following locations at our language centre positions: Bien Hoa, Binh Duong, Rach Gia, Ba Ria, Hai Phong, Ha Long, My Tho, Vinh Long, Long Khanh & Can Tho
The public school programme does not currently offer any housing allowance in Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi. You will be supported in finding your apartment during induction by both TFT & school.
Other financials
Other financial aspects have to be taken in to account when accepting your offer onto the programme such as: criminal record check, document legalisation, flight and travel insurance costs along with spending money and initial rent.
We estimate the average total spend excluding programme fees to be around £2000. Your work permit and visa will be supported by the school. The application process over all will take around 4 months or longer depending on when you apply, so there is plenty of time to save and the cost will be spread out over a long period.
Some employers in Vietnam may reimburse you for some costs. This will be discussed during your interview with the school/employer.
You may also be paid for your teacher training in Vietnam, which is most common in Ho Chi Minh City. Accommodation is always provided for free during training.
Public School vs Language Centre
Our public school programmes currently run in Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City, with a Monday to Friday schedule and only around 20 hours of actual teaching per week! You will have your evenings and weekend free to your self to explore! You will also benefit from many public and school holidays, giving you plenty of opportunities to travel around Vietnam!
Language Centre positions are great fun! Your busiest two days will be Saturday and Sunday (between 9am to 6pm) then you'll have 2 days off through the week and the other 3 days you won't need to start work until around 5pm where you will complete just 2-3 hours of teaching. This is a great opportunity to make the most of your new surroundings through the week and have a great social life. You will have so much time to make friends and explore!
